Promote Pollinators member South Korea organises online campaign on World Bee Day
On May 20th – World Bee Day – Promote Pollinators member South Korea started an online campaign to highlight the importance of honey bees. Countries were called to take a photo of a representative of the national pollinator strategy holding a sign with the word ‘bee’ in their national language and share it on social media using the hashtag #weneedhoneybee.
During the campaign the hashtag #weneedhoneybee became a trending topic on Twitter in Nigeria, thanks to the leadership of Hon. Sharon Ikeazor, Minister of State, Environment. The word ‘bee’ was translated into several of Nigeria’s official languages. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of the Netherlands Carola Schouten also joined the campaign.
