Colombia has been a member of the coalition since March 2018. Since then, they took major steps in protecting pollinators and their habitats. On the 29 April the members of Promote Pollinators and some interested others joined in a meeting to exchange experiences, present their national strategies and discuss the organizational model. On 1 May Burundi joined the coalition. Prior to the sign-up of Burundi, the representative of Costa Rica also expressed their intention to join our coalition by the next meeting of Promote Pollinators.
Today, Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Republic of Ireland joined the Coalition of the Willing on Pollinators. By signing the declaration of Cancún they show their intent to take action and collaborate on promoting pollinators. This brings the total of signatories to twenty-one. The sixth IPBES conference in Medellin, Colombia was the backdrop for this special event.
