Costa Rica joins Promote Pollinators

On 2 October 2019, Costa Rica signed the declaration and became a member to Promote Pollinators. In doing this, Costa Rica commits to creating a national strategy for the protection of pollinating species.

During IPBES-7 in April/May this year, the members of Promote Pollinators and some interested others joined to exchange experiences, present their national strategies and discuss the organizational model. On 1 May Burundi joined the coalition. Prior to the sign-up of Burundi, the representative of Costa Rica already expressed their intention to join our coalition.

Over 400 species of native wild bees and approximately 50 species of hummingbirds can be found in Costa Rica.
